Welcome!
We at RICE have a deep desire and passion to see the gospel of Jesus Christ go out to the youth of Sydney. And we hope you have that same passion to see your friends know the love of God through Jesus. And we are totally convinced that you play a huge part in God's mission. Wherever God has placed you in your life situation (whether it be in year 7, year 8.... year 12 or wherever), we believe that this is your mission field that God has given you! May God strengthen you to reach out to a generation of youth that are trying to find their belonging somewhere. And this generation more than ever, needs to find real acceptance and real belonging in the love of Jesus. Be bold and let this generation in your schools hear the good news of Jesus proclaimed at RICE 2008!!

Lost Property from Rally
Unfortunately, RICE was unable to get a hold of the majority of lost property (we do have a bit). The SEC has collected the majority of it and you'll needs to call SEC directly to search and pick up lost property on this general enquiries number (02) 9320 4200.

The Opening Ceremony!!

There is only one week to go to RICE, so this is the opportunity to go crazy inviting your friends and letting everyone know that RICE is happening. Why do we do this? Because we know the truth of the gospel, and we know the urgency for everyone to know about Jesus!

Less than two weeks to go!
Yes that's right! RICE is happening in 12 sleeps time! Make the most of this week to invite your friends along to RICE. Try everything! Team up with other people in your grade to invite friends, organise something together during the day before rally, have a sleepover the night before RICEfest, whatever! Get those ideas flowing.
And for those of you in year twelve with HSC Trials, here's an idea. I know all your friends are probably stressed and wanting to study, so let them! Get a group of friends together, and go to a local library (or maybe even the State Library in the City) early in the morning. Study the whole day, and afterwards go to RICE Rally. That way, you can study for 7-8 hours, and still go to Rally guiltless! Brilliant!
Really make the effort this week to invite your friends, it could change their life for all eternity. Here's a quick "

".
1. Pray for them, and yourself. That God will open their hearts, and that you will be bold and unashamed of Christ.
2. Invite them! Let them know there's a Christian event coming up, that it's really cool, that they'll find out about what you believe, and that it could change their life.
3. Let God do the rest! All you can do is invite... God will bring them if it is His will.
See, simple as 1, 2, 3!

We've got a STACK of new video announcements scattered across the whole website including RICE rally speaker Mark Driscoll's video message to the youth of Sydney! Make sure you check out all the updates at the top of the page. COUNTING DOWN!!!

There will be a prayer night next Tuesday 5th August @ CCC Milsons Point from 7:30-9:30pm during choir, orchestra and dance rehearsals. This is open for anyone who wants to support RICE in Prayer.

RICE Leaders Day Out!!
To all the Leaders of the many RICE Churches! Yes, that's right,
this Saturday
is the RICE LDO! An essential information and training day for you to be at. Why? Because we'll get focussed on why we do RICE - it's not for RICE, it's not for fun... it's for Jesus and the spreading of his gospel.
A quick summary of the details:
Where
: SMBC - 43 Badminton St, Croydon
When
: 9:00 am for registration - please do not be late.
Parking
: Please DO NOT park on Badminton Street.
Bring
: $40 for lunch and leaders pack
If you're not a leader, or you're not attending, then you can still be involved with the LDO. Please pray for the leaders and the day, that we'll really be focussed on God and not ourselves, and that we'll really be encouraged and empowered to spread the gospel at RICE.

RICE Art Express
RICE Art Express is back again this year! Last year saw many youths; individuals, groups and whole youth groups, get together to create pieces of artwork to be displayed around at the RICE Big Day Out.
This year, we're giving you and your friends the chance to do it again at RICEfest! The theme this year is "Waiting...", suitably picked to match our RICE themes. Check out the

Use this great opportunity to show off your artistic talent. Not only that, but see this as an opportunity to create thought provoking pieces of art that will prompt your friends to consider Jesus.

RICEfest: What are you waiting for?
RICE Rally: Waiting on the World to Change
The themes this year reflect the fact that today, so many of us are waiting for things. Whether it's the bus or train, for your exam marks, for "the one" to walk into your life, to grow up and be independent, or even for some of us, a whole change of our lives because life can really suck sometimes. This year we'll be looking at how Jesus fits into all this waiting, and what he has to do with Waiting for the World to Change.

Final Call up for Youth involvement!
For some reason, the date for the below entry was put as April... don't know why, but it's fixed up now.Anyway, back to business! We've received a message from Bert about the Youth Involvement at RICE this year. It was announced that registration closed a while ago, however it has been extended and is still open! So all you musical kids out there, have a think and pray about serving at RICE this year and then sign up!
"We would LOVE to see a HUGE CHOIR and a COMPLETE ORCHESTRA that can become a real stage presence on the MASSIVE stage of Sydney Entertainment Centre, and of course helping to lead the youth and leaders of the Sydney community to sing praises to our awesome God!"
